Our Lord encourages us not only to ask Him for our desires and needs but also to express gratitude for all we have received. Just as we take the time to ask in detail for what we want or need, we should also take the time to praise Him for His blessings. For example, in Proverbs 3:5-6, Solomon advises us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding, acknowledging Him in all our ways. Similarly, in Psalm 107:1, it is written, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." Solomon's story emphasizes the importance of seeking wisdom and guidance from the Lord, as seen in 1 Kings 3:9, where Solomon asks God for discernment to govern His people. Just as we appreciate a thank you for a kind deed, our Lord appreciates our gratitude even more. Therefore, it is essential always to be aware of His blessings and express our thankfulness, as it is only in a state of gratitude that we open ourselves to receive more of His goodness and blessings.
